CAPTAIN COOK LANDING PLACE & CULTURAL TOUR
Explore the landing site of Captain James Cook and discover how a real Tongan Culture is very unique. You will visit the site where Captain James Cook, the great English Explorer landed on 30th April 1777 and also witness a variety of interesting exhibits, which provides an insight into the local culture. You will view and watch the fascinating myth of the coconut’s origin is reveal before you, observe the traditional methods of obtaining coconut milk. The demonstrations of making an umu (Tongan traditional underground oven), pounding tapa cloth making, and weaving mat before the fruits refreshments are served. You will then sit and relax while witnessing the Tongan Solo dance.

Some locally made handicrafts and souvenirs can be purchased from the stalls on the wharf at the conclusions of your tour. Please bring local currency with you. Foreign Currency is available at the Wharf.

From weaving and poundings of crafted souvenirs, you may need to bring along local cash.
SPECIAL NOTES
- Local buses are used for transportation. These buses are very basic and have neither air conditioning nor public address system.
- Restroom facilities may be rustic.
- To make your day as enjoyable as possible, please ensure that you wear comfortable flat soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat, and brings along some sunscreen and bottled of water.
